NWU honors eight Outstanding Alumni

Northwestern University honored eight outstanding alumni via Facebook live on March 24, 2022.

“In different fields of expertise, not only [did] they make their marks in their chosen professions, [but] they have modeled excellence in service, competence in their field, and most of all, their accomplishments have enriched the lives of people around them. So to all of our honorees, congratulations, we salute you, and may you serve [as] a shining light for our alumni, our students, and for all,” said Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas, University President, as he welcomed the viewers.

The awardees were Atty. Manuel Flores Aurelio, a retired prosecutor and the Dean of the College of Law; Mr. Ariston Arellano Lorenzo, an English and Literature Instructor/Assistant Professor II of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU); Sonia Padua Alaba, Executive Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer of Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction and Contracting (KCPC), Kuwait and Middle East; Mr. Randy Antonio Laoat, Municipal Vice Mayor of Pudtol, Apayao; Prof. Charliemane A. Words of gratitude were expressed by the awardees as they received their awards.

“With all humility, I accept the award that Northwestern University is giving this humble self. But I have not done anything by myself. I came here on a mission given by God,” said Atty. Aurelio.

“Congratulations, Northwestern University, for keeping your commitment to provide light to every student with your burning torch. And here I am, a living proof of that promise,” said Mr. Lorenzo.

Mrs. Alaba stated that being a product of NWU brings a defining factor of pride and excellence. And Prof. Bullalayao said that he was overwhelmed with gratitude that he had been selected to receive the award.

“Rest assured that I’ll continue to uphold the vision, mission, and objectives of the university,” Prof. Bullalayao added.
