NWU celebrates Employees’ Day 2022

In celebration of NWU’s 90th Founding Anniversary, the university workforce celebrated Employees’ Day on February 18, 2022, with the theme “Revitalize: Music and Wellness.”

The celebration kicked off with a Zumba session held at the Freedom Park where faculty members, staff members, and other university personnel danced to the beat of “Easy on Me” remix. After the morning exercise, the employees participated in a series of Laro ng Lahi activities, including sack race, Chinese garter, and kadang-kadang.

Simultaneously, airsoft enthusiasts also joined a shooting exhibition at the Student Lounge, organized by the NWU Employees Airsoft Club.

In the afternoon, the NWU After 6 Band serenaded the employees with their jam session.

“The activity was aimed to give personnel the break they needed, especially during these times that they are spending too much in the offices and in their homes facilitating virtual classes and other office duties,” said Prof. Karl Lenin Benigno, Institutional Planning and Development Department (IPODD) Director. “It’s a part of the activities lined up for the university’s wellness program for employees.”

Dr. Yolanda Lao, CAS faculty member, shared, “It was one way [for] employees [to] get together, it was for fun, and it was a breakaway and a breather from workloads even just for a while.”
