UCRD Spearheaded Research Proposal Preparation Training |
The University Center for Research and Development conducted a two day hands-on training to equip participants with basic knowledge and skills in the development and writing research proposals last August 30-31, 2012 at the Accreditation Room. “Without a culture of research, the institution may lose its university status,†Ma. Liza S. Nicolas, NWU President, emphasized on her welcome address.
Dr. Estrella R. Calixto, College of Teacher Education Dean, introduced the technical side of research preparation covering the basics from choosing the topic and formulating the problems to looking for references on “Research Proposal Development.â€Prof. Herdy La. Yumul, Mariano Marcos State University faculty member and author of The He(a)rd Mentality, presented a different approach to the quantitative dominant research culture of the university by suggesting and talking about the advan-tages of Qualitative Research. The participants from different colleges were grouped according to their expertise and made capsulized research proposals during the workshop sessions of the training. The groups came out with seven re-search proposals:
All research proposals were presented to the organizers and participants and were critiqued by the University Research Council composed of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lori Marseli L. De Castro, Vice President for RCEIAD Dr. Rudy P. Bareng, UCRD Director Dr. Elsie C. Pilar and CTE Dean Dr. Estrella R. Calixto for further improvement.
