Call for papers

The 2019 Northern Philippines Business Research Conference is organized by College of Business Education, Northwestern University on Dec. 6-7, 2019 in Laoag City, Philippines. The theme of the 2019 NPBRC is “Breakthrough to Excellence in Research”. In particular, this year’s high quality papers will be invited to submit to a Special Issue of the COBE Business Review.

The 1st Northern Philippines Business Research Conference aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Management. It also provides an interdisciplinary platform for policy makers, top managers, researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of management. Themes for the conference have revolved around economics, finance & accounting, IT & E-commerce, law & business ethics, organizational behavior & HR, operations management, marketing, and strategy & entrepreneurship. It will enable the researchers to showcase their path-breaking research in different disciplines of management. The conference will also provide a platform to researchers in Ilocos Region and the entire Philippines to put forth their ideas, share their experiences and network with their counterparts.
We invite papers for presentation related to the conference theme from students, faculty members, professionals, and public policy makers. Every paper submitted should have a global/international orientation and must be scholarly in content. We welcome conceptual, theoretical and empirical papers, using qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies. Manuscripts submitted must be complete papers.

Suggested Topics

The conference will provide a novel forum to the researchers and academicians to present papers in the areas of economics, finance & accounting, IT & E-commerce, law & business ethics, organizational behavior & HR, operations management, marketing, and strategy & entrepreneurship.

Deadlines and Format:

• Submit an electronic copy of the complete manuscript by 15 November 2019 via the online submission. Unless specified below, guidelines and style for full paper preparation should follow that of the specified format, otherwise submissions will be returned or not reviewed
• The maximum length of the paper is 40 pages including ALL tables, appendices and references, with an abstract of no more than 100 words.
• Acceptance notification will be sent by November 2, 2019. The Conference Secretariat must receive final full manuscripts, by Dec. 1, 2019.
• The author(s) must certify that the accepted paper is not copyrighted and has not been published elsewhere.
• Papers will be arranged for presentation and publication ONLY if at least one of the authors registers for the Conference by the registration deadline November 30, 2019.
• An individual author may appear on more than two papers.

Official registration is completed upon the receipt of registration fee.
Registration will NOT be confirmed until full payment is received.

Remarks:

• Proof of full-time student status is required.
• The registration fee includes 2 luncheons, 4 coffee breaks, and a copy of Conference Proceedings and does NOT include the accommodation fee and travel expense. Participants have to be responsible for all traveling expenses incurred in attending the Conference.
* Conference Proceedings is in CD format and costs P 500.00 for additional copy.

Cancellation Policy:

We understand that members who have registered for the conference may have to cancel their registrations due to unforeseen circumstances. While we try to accommodate cancellations to the best of our ability, any cancellation, especially late ones, put us at a difficult situation. Due to the size of our conference, we make many of our arrangements well in advance and therefore cancellations come with a cost to us. Therefore, we will follow the conference cancellation policy that is developed by NWU-COBE to balance the needs of our members with the costs of cancellation. As such, please note that cancellation requests for an already confirmed registration will be processed according to the following schedule:

Before 3 October: 100% refund
3 October – October 31 : 50% refund
After October 31: No refunds available
