NWU mounts Freshmenia 2022 in-campus

Northwestern University mounted “Freshmenia,” a three-day, face-to-face event with the theme “Getting Back In The Groove” from September 28-30, 2022.

The three-day event was filled with unforgettable experiences, joined in by students from different colleges, and some visitors. Thirty-one merchants were also invited to fill in students’ food cravings while enjoying the events.

“Freshmenia this year is the best. As a graduating student, this event was the most unforgettable experience I had ever had in the university. The three-day event helped us to recover from stress in studying and learning online for the past two years,” Myka A. from the College of Arts and Sciences, said.

Day one was chock-full of excitement with all the students from different colleges joining the Welcome Home Walk, and being entertained after by guests from Rock Mob – Ilocos Norte composed of talented Ilocano musicians and singers.

Day two became more amusing with Owlcoustic – Battle of the Bands, and on day three, a hip-hop concert was mounted, performed by invited Ilocano rappers, The Ilocos Allstar. A dance mob was choreographed by the Saguday dance crew. To end the Freshmenia 2022, a hydro color rave happened, wherein water was blasted toward dancing students. The participants went home with big smiles on their faces even if their clothes were soaking wet with fun colors, as a trace of their enjoyment from the event.

“Let us enjoy a series of events from today until Friday (September 28-30, 2022). Let us be thankful to the University for letting Freshmenia 2022 happen. Thanks to the University President and VPAA for approving our request for students to be excused and for giving us ample opportunities to socialize, and rest our minds for OWL-WELLNESS as we transition to HYBRID Learning. Let us make use of these opportunities to showcase your talents as well and be better versions of yourselves,” Prof. Jing Matias, Acting Dean of the Office of the Students Affairs, said.
