Ms NWU-SSC 2008 is this year’s Bb. Pilipinas-Ilocos Norte
The recently crowned Miss Supreme Student Council during the Search for Miss Northwestern University (NWU) is this year’s Bb. Pilipinas-Ilocos Norte. The pageant was staged at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena last Feb. 29, 2008.
Jinky Janelle Miranda, represented her hometown Badoc, defeated 16 other candidates from the different cities and municipalities of the province. The second year nursing student also copped the best talent and best in swimsuit awards along with her three corporate awards.
“I wasn’t expecting it. My fellow candidates were all equally beautiful and smart that’s why I know it is a tough competition”, Miranda said.
She was elevated to the semi finals along with fellow NWU beauty titlists like Miss Loaag Katherine Domingo, Miss San Nicolas Sharmaine Ruiz, and Miss Pinili Judith Agulay. However, only Miranda made it to the finals.
During the pageants’ final stage, the top 5 finalist were asked a question regarding their possible contribution to promote Ilocos Norte Tourism once declared as the Bb. Pilipinas-Ilocos Norte. It is noted that the sole criterion in this stage was 100% Intelligence.
Miranda come up with the best answer during the final round because she is “socially and culturally aware. I am a wide reader and a good observant too”.
“My success is dedicated to my parents, friends, and of course my NWU family for the inspiration”, she disclosed.
On the record, the NWU proved that history repeats itself as Kate Lao, former Miss NWU and Bb. Pilipinas-Ilocos Norte 2005, turned over the crown to Miranda.
