| NWU Initiates '10 Strategic Planning Session |
The Corporate Planning Office and Quality Assurance Center in cooperation with the Office of the President and SVPAA Office conducted the Strategic Planning Session 2010 with the theme, Embarking on a Corporate Excellence Journey through Commitment to a Strong Quality Foundation. This annual event was held last April 23, 2010 at the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel. CorPlan Director Dr. Eric Parilla pointed out that the strategic planning session was aimed to come-up with macro and micro plans for the entire University for the School Year 2010-2011. He added that the event helped school officials in advancing their respective tasks for the upcoming school year. The presenters gave details about suggestions on quality improvements for the administration, accomplishments and accreditation status of the university. Parilla also added that procedure on the preparation of the budget for each department was discussed and they projected the number of enrollees per college as basis for budget preparation. They also charted the evaluation of the planned courses of action of each department. The planning session was exclusively attended by vice presidents, college deans, directors, department heads, and internal auditors. The topics discussed were Management Review by Zarieddie P. Domingo, Quality Assurance Manager; General Program Review Analysis by Jonah Andres, Quality Assurance Monitoring and Program Auditor; Academic Program Review Analysis by SVPAA Dr. Lori Marseli L. de Castro and Accreditation Officer Prof. Beatriz Cravalho; 10 Year Development Plan by CorPlan Director Dr. Eric Parilla; and Budget Preparation and Forum by VP for Finance Prof. Divina Quezada. After the presentation, an open forum was conducted where participants were able to comment and question the presenters regarding their respective topics. "Many participants were able to suggest and recommend things to do in order to improve the operations of the university such as aggressive marketing, physical development of colleges and accreditation," Parilla said. Prior to this event, a pre-planning session was conducted where the University had invited Captain Dr. Jesus Cabrera, SeaTech Maritime Institute Owner and CHED Consultant for maritime education, as the speaker. Cabrera discussed the importance of accreditation and ISO in an institution, its mandatory requirements and implementation to the system. The pre-planning session was intended to aid the Vice Presidents, Chief of Staff, College Deans, Directors, internal auditors, and department heads on how to manage, organize and control their documents and records. |
