NWU supports TOUR OF HOPE 2011
True to its commitment in raising awareness on cervical cancer prevention, Bravehearts in partnership with GlaxoSmithKline and Team David's Salon initiated the TOUR OF HOPE 2011 "500: Going the Xtra Mile Against Cervical Cancer.

" Bikers joined the 5-day tour from Manila to Laoag City (NWU) in order to help raise funds for the groups’ vaccination drives against the second most common female cancer worldwide.

NWU reaps awards in 21st PACUCOA General Assembly
Northwestern University was awarded by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) for having the highest number of Level II Reaccredited Programs in the country and the highest number of accredited programs in Region I during the 21st PACUCOA General Assembly on December 10, 2010 at the Diamond Hotel, Manila.

After 7 years of dormancy, the College of Maritime Education celebrated its Maritime Day last December 10, 2010. The maritime cadets elected to revive the tradition of the college so as to boost the unity and morale as well as promote fellowship among the cadets. This year’s theme is "Navigating Towards your Dreams."

COBE Falcons Crowned 2010 Intramurals Champs
The College of Business Education Falcons made its dominance felt during the Northwestern University 2010 Intramurals when it devoured all of its opponents in their quest for the over-all championship title last September 14-17, 2010. Garnering a total of 271.5, the Falcons proved that they have the hardest claw when they grasped every sporting event from basketball to softball and swimming.

The CAHS Nightingales garnered second place, while the combined efforts of the CAS and COME Hawks placed third. The joint forces of the CTE and CEAT Eagles landed in fourth place. The CCJE Wildbats rallied for the fifth place.

Aside from sports events, there was also a display of wits and talents in the Literary and Musical Competition which included contests in essay writing, extemporaneous speech, oration, quiz show, folk dance, interpretative dance, ballroom dancing, vocal solo and duet.

NWU-HRM students capture Kusina Ilocandia 2010 Title
Students from the Hotel and Restaurant Management department showed their culinary brilliance as they gutted out 10 other colleges and universities of Region I to win the over-all student level championship of the Kusina Ilocandia 2010 held at San Juan, La Union last September 15-18, 2010. The culinary competition with the theme, Unwrapping Ilocandia’s Finest in Culinary Expertise and Creativity Towards Global Standard and Competence, was conducted to showcase Ilocano cuisine while displaying skills in presenting dishes in a unique setting.

The individual winners during the regional competition were Rogelio Viscarra Jr., gold medalist in fruit and vegetable carving, Dennis Duldulao, silver medalist in flair tending, Marlon Lumang, bronze medalist in the pasta live making, and Tranz Aira Lei Aguilar, bronze medalist in cocktail mixing and napkin folding.
