PDEA signs MOA with NWU, Lectures Students on Drug Awareness
With the aim of informing the students on the ill effects of drug use, the Corporate Planning Office through the Marketing Department invited Assistant Secretary Rodolfo Caisip of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to conduct a Drug Awareness Lecture last February 25 at the New Media Hall.
Prior to the program, PDEA and NWU signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the on-the-job training of students with courses related to the agency's function. The two organizations also agreed that they join hands in the mobilization of the anti-drug abuse prevention education and information dissemination program.
Anti-Drug Campaign Lecturer Bubot Sarmiento challenged the students of the College of Criminology, Maritime Education, and Psychology not to ignore the rampant issues of illegal drugs in the country, instead they should participate in the campaign of the PDEA against the use of illegal drugs. "The Philippine Government is intensifying its anti-drug crusade to end drug trafficking and abuse in the country and it needs the support of the youth," Sarmiento said. She encouraged the students to report anyone seen selling or using illegal drugs to the PNP or the PDEA Office for immediate action.
The drug awareness lecture is a school to school campaign of the PDEA in cooperation with the Rotary Club International District 3800 and the Ayoko sa Bawal na Droga (AKO) party-list, in addressing the dangerous effects and consequences of illegal drugs.
