Northwestern University (NWU), through its President, Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas, and East West Education Specialists, Inc., through its President and CEO, Mr. Dennis Layug, sealed their partnership today, January 5, 2016 where NWU is designated as the sole and exclusive provider of certificate programs that would  prepare students and professionals for the ASEAN Integration. These programs will ensure the employability and boost the competitiveness of students and professionals in the global scene. NWU shall serve as the certification hub also for the training of trainers in the region. Present in the said event were: Atty. Jose Layug, Jr., Chairman- East West Education Specialists, Inc.; Dr. Chita A. Gonzales, Director- Center for Business Development and External Affairs (NWU), Dr. Roseli T. Aurelio, VP- Academic Affairs; Dr. Josephine G. Bolusan, VP-Finance, college deans and department heads/heads of offices.
Given this recent partnership, NWU will be the official host to the biggest business schools’ convention/caravan in the region next month. NWU will be opening also the first Bloomberg Laboratory in the region, and just among the few to have a state-of-the art facility in the country. Bloomberg is considered as one of the providers for most powerful research tools used by financial institutions, governments, universities, and many industries around the world.
The three (3) pilot programs for the first quarter of the year would be: 1) Bloomberg Professional Service Training Program and a post nominal of Certified Financial Markets Professional; 2) A 5-certificate package in Disaster and Crisis Management, Evacuation Center Management, Community Mobilization, Psychological First Aid, and Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) Heart Saver; and 3) Certificate in Ethical Leadership and Management.
Certification programs in finance, psychology, education, hotel & restaurant management, tourism, health sciences and other courses will soon be offered.
